It is possible to increase deadline from 10 days to 14. I want to hear opinions of crunchers.

I think 10 days is plenty.

The only negative point from my POV would be potentially waiting longer for my wingmen to return their results.

If nobody is complaining, why change it? :) TBH, I'd rather you sorted out the poor credit (lowest claimed from the quorum disadvantages slower machines, and is only used by a few project now).

          Al.

10 days is plenty for these tasks. Plus consider a common scenario:
day 0: task sent to 2 computers
            day 2: one computer finishes
            day 10: wingman times out
hopefully someone completes it here otherwise
            day 20: next wingman

I have had tasks on Primegrid tied up for months due to multiple timeouts/expired wingman or invalid work turned in by one of the wingman in the mix.

Also, no one gets credit until there is quorum and that means it impacts RAC to an extent. Some crunchers are quite concerned about even their daily RAC.

I do have a few machines that are mostly still running simply because they still run that take 24+ hours and I have stopped having them take SAT @home work (this includes a single core P4 chip that is before HT was even introduced the first time for instance). Most machines I have are more around the 2 hour range per task.

That is right, but some of WUs needs huge time (about 20 hours instead of 3-4). Because of it slow host can reach deadline and lost some credits. That is why I increased it to 14 days.

can we have increased deadline just for those WUs ? or you cannot predict deadline for WU based on WU properties ?

                  We can't predict.
